Last week, individuals at Frank Lee Work Release and Work Center had an incredible opportunity to enhance their skills through the ACCS Skills for Success Pilot Plumbing program, offered at the Draper Instructional Service Center. This innovative program, delivered by the Innovation Center, begins with interactive online modules that cover essential plumbing concepts, safety protocols, and the tools of the trade. This flexible approach allows students to acquire a strong theoretical foundation before diving into hands-on practice.
After completing the online coursework, participants engaged in two days of intensive, hands-on training. During these lab days, students participated in five practical activities that mirrored real-world plumbing scenarios. This immersive experience enabled them to apply their newly acquired skills in a controlled environment, fostering confidence and competence for future employment opportunities.
