Ingram students took a break from summer classes on Friday, July 1 for a college-wide cookout sponsored by the ISTC Foundation. Dr. Brannon Lentz, foundation liaison, said over 700 Ingram students at six locations participated in the festivities. “In addition to celebrating the 4th, the foundation board wanted to recognize the students’ commitment to their education,” said Lentz. “It’s easy to become so focused on long term goals that we forget to celebrate everyday accomplishments.”
Board chair Cam Ward and his wife, Lindsey, were among those serving the holiday meal, which included hamburgers, baked beans and other holiday favorites. Ward is the director of the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles.
In addition to providing tools and equipment for graduates preparing to enter the workforce, the foundation funds student activities throughout the academic year, including the oratorical and visual arts competition and a reception for family and friends at commencement.
