Cosmetology
Cosmetology (COS) program at J.F. Ingram State Technical College is a comprehensive 60-semester hour program that blends classroom instruction with practical, hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. This program is meticulously designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required for a successful career as a licensed cosmetologist.
Program Structure
To earn a certificate of completion, students must complete four academic courses totaling 12 semester hours, alongside all required career technical courses. The program also offers stackable short-term certificates and industry certifications, allowing students to tailor their education to meet their specific career goals.
Skills and Techniques
Participants in the Cosmetology program will gain proficiency in various techniques, including:
Cutting, trimming, and styling scalp, facial, and body hair
Applying cosmetic preparations
Performing manicures and pedicures
Massaging the head and extremities
