Our Special Education Services instructors recently introduced a fantastic initiative: an etiquette class aimed at preparing students for situations requiring socially acceptable behavior. After discussing the concept, our faculty decided to simulate a lunch or dinner meeting setting, similar to a job interview, to demonstrate practical etiquette skills.
The plan came together beautifully as we combined a presentation on table manners and etiquette with our Honor's Day program. This provided students the opportunity to learn about formal dining etiquette, create positive first impressions, and develop interviewing skills. They also enjoyed receiving awards and presentations, all while being served a meal by our dedicated faculty and staff.
Mrs. Jones, our presenter, did an outstanding job, and even some of the adults in attendance picked up new tips on formal table etiquette. We are excited to continue offering our students exposure to beneficial experiences that will aid their reintegration into society. By teaching them proper social behavior, we aim to ease their transition into new environments post-release.
