Golfers Convene at Arrowhead to Raise Funds for Graduates

On a Monday morning in October, 24 teams of golfers gathered at Arrowhead County Club for the third annual J. F. Ingram State Technical College Foundation golf tournament. The SWAT Pest Control team of Shane and Bill Yankee, Allen Meadows and Buck Noble garnered first place honors with a combined average score of 47 for nine holes.

Foundation liaison Dr. Brannon Lentz said the tournament generated nearly $15,000 in total revenue. Proceeds will be used in part to provide industry certification, tools and equipment for ISTC grads preparing to enter the workforce. “Working in concert with the College job placement specialists we are able to ensure that as graduates secure employment they have the resources they need to make a strong start,” said Lentz.

Tournament chairman Stan Humphries said the event has grown each year. “Our team participation was up over 25 percent this year. We appreciate those teams that come out each year, and we’re really pleased to welcome all the new teams.”

Lentz also cited the many individuals, businesses and industries who sponsor to the event. “Every sponsor supports our students in many ways – their gift communicates encouragement and a belief in their ability to succeed.”
